Working in harmony, naturally

As a manufacturer, we accept wholeheartedly our social and moral responsibilities on environmental issues and have put in place positive and far-reaching initiatives to reduce our impact on the environment.

Therefore in March of 2008 we obtained ISO14001 certification. This is the environmental standard that ensures we constantly assess and reduce our impact on the environment.

Here are just some of the improvements we have already made, but the list is constantly evolving so please contact us to find out the latest innovations.

  • Energy saving measures
  • Water conservation
  • Safe storage, use and disposal of chemicals and emissions, including C02
  • Reducing our carbon footprint
  • Waste minimisation and recycling
  • Use of vegetable based inks
  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

FSCBecause Forests Matter, Precision has attained FSC certification and can provide valid chain of custody for print production on materials approved by the Forest Stewardship Council – Promoting Responsible Forestry.

Using FSC paper sourced only from managed forests approved by the Forest Stewardship Council guarantees that the trees used are grown and felled responsibly. It also means the printed job can display the FSC logo to demonstrate your responsible environmental selection. We will provide advice on the best selection for each project.

Simple choices, significant results (environmental case study)

In April 2006 we transferred print production for the Atkins Group from virgin pulp papers to 100% recycled stock. Evolve for business stationery and the recycled Nine Lives 80 for marketing printing and business cards.

This means that Atkins publications can carry the recycled FSC accreditation.

In twelve months the group consumes some 31 tonnes of paper. It takes around 17 trees per tonne to make paper. Therefore by using the new recycled products the group has saved some 527 trees in just a year.

In addition energy usage for making recycled papers is reduced by 64% – this supports carbon reduction, water usage also being reduced by 50%.

Using digital printing to reduce waste.

By utilising digital printing wherever suitable for low run projects such as business cards and tailored marketing, waste for make ready is significantly reduced to just 10% saving some 2128 kg of board being wasted each year or another 36 trees.
