Pantone Queen – 60 Years Of Matching Colour

Our story begins in the middle of May 2012. Leo Burnett wanted to help their client, Pantone, celebrate the upcoming Diamond Jubilee with a deck of the colours made famous by the Queen over her long and successful reign.

All sixty colours had to be perfect, of course. Each shade, rich with the understated boldness that helped Her Majesty stand out from the crowd on the TV sets of the 1960s. From the Primrose Yellow she wore at Will and Kate’s wedding, to the Lilac Snow from her recent state visit to Northumberland, the palette is subtly evolving, yet always regal.

Could we do it?

Our 7-colour HP Indichrome Pantone emulation process was capable of matching all 60 colours, exactly. The timings were tight, as many creative projects of this magnitude can be. However, we turned the project round in under two weeks, just in time to present Her Majesty with her own deck at the Jubilee celebrations.
