Short-run book covers
When you’re one of the world’s leading publishers, famous for creating visually stunning books that inform, enrich and entertain readers of all ages, creating an engaging and stimulating cover is a serious business, especially when you have a reputation for using metallic foils, embossing and UV varnishes across the majority of your titles.
Creating cover artwork is straightforward, but when your book production is focused in the Far East, you are likely to wait weeks to see cover proofs that have been printed, foiled, embossed and varnished using traditional printing and finishing processes. Making tweaks and changes is problematic, adding time and cost to a process that is already time-sensitive.
Precision developed a fast track solution to supply cover proofs within 48 hours and at a fraction of the cost. We utilised the very latest technology to create elaborate cover proofs with the same textures, foils and varnishes. The digitally printed covers were repeatedly tweaked and honed, at little cost, to create the final designs. A small number were printed at Precision to showcase the book, while the final artwork was sent to the Far East for production.
